A world-class sprint and hurdles program is in store for GalAthletics Bellinzona, which will bring the very best of international track and field to the Stadio Comunale on Sunday, August 30.
Among the most anticipated names is world No. 1 Ja’Kobe Tharp of the United States, new world record holder in the 110m hurdles with a time of 12.75 seconds and fresh off a victory at the latest Diamond League meet in London. Challenging him for the win at the starting blocks will be standout Jamar Marshall and World University champion Tatsuki Abe.
In the women’s 100m hurdles, a rematch will take place between newly crowned European champion Nadine Visser and local star Ditaji Kambundji, the first Swiss woman to become a world champion. Joining them in the lanes will be U.S. athlete Grace Stark, world bronze medalist in Tokyo 2025, Jamaica’s Megan Simmonds, and Rayniah Jones.
The men’s 400 meters boasts another top-tier lineup, featuring Paris Olympic bronze medalist Muzala Samukonga, South Africa’s Zakithi Nene (winner of the 2026 Stockholm Diamond League), World Indoor champion Chris Morales-Williams, and European Indoor champion Attila Molnar. Representing Switzerland will be national champion Lionel Spitz alongside Ricky Petrucciani.
