On Sunday, August 30, the Stadio Comunale will showcase an extraordinary constellation of global athletics stars, collectively boasting 65 gold medals won across the Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships, along with 10 newly crowned European champions fresh off the continental championships in Birmingham.
Highlighting the track events, the women’s 100 meters promises high-octane excitement, requiring two heats to accommodate a world-class field featuring ten athletes who have broken the sub-11-second barrier. Headlining the lineup is American sprinter Tamari Davis, World 4x100m relay champion with a personal best of 10.83, joined by Canadian national record holder Sade McCreath (10.86), New Zealand’s Zoe Hobbs, Audrey Leduc, Lavanya Williams, Torrie Lewis, and Italy’s Zaynab Dosso, the reigning World Indoor 60m champion.
Adding local excitement, Switzerland’s top sprinting stars will take on the global elite, led by Mujinga Kambundji alongside Géraldine Di Tizio-Frey, Salomé Kora, Ajla Del Ponte, and Natacha Kouni, fresh off their silver medal performance in the 4x100m relay at the European Championships in Birmingham.
